It was announced on Thursday that legendary musician and recording artist Prince – whose full name is Prince Rogers Nelson – has passed away. His body was found at his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota. Several outlets are reporting Prince’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, confirmed his passing.
It has been reported recently that Prince was battling the flu. The pop music superstar recently canceled a performance in Atlanta citing health concerns. A medical emergency on April 15th forced his private jet to make an emergency landing in Illinois, though he performed the next day, assuring fans that all was well. Sadly, several days later Prince has passed away. He was 57.
Throughout his career, Prince sold over 100 million records, won 7 Grammys, an Oscar for Best Original Song Score for Purple Rain, was inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, among countless other awards and accomplishments.
Prince has made a massive impact on music and culture. He has the type of fans that absolutely live for him, and it goes without saying his death will be mourned immensely. Our condolences go out to his family, friends and fans.
